About Me
I'm here to walk alongside you—at your pace, on safe ground.
Hi, I’m Michelle Wilkie, an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker based in Australia, and the founder of Safe Ground Therapy. I offer online and phone counselling for adults and young people (18+) navigating challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, relationship difficulties, chronic health issues, substance use, mood disorders, attachment injury and more.
My passion lies in supporting people to reconnect with their strengths, values, and inner resources. I believe that healing happens in safe, respectful spaces—where you feel seen, heard, and supported without judgment.

My Background
I hold a Bachelor of Social Work with Distinction and am an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with the Australian Association of Social Workers. I have additional training in trauma, addiction, and a variety of therapeutic approaches. I’ve worked across diverse settings—including not-for-profit mental health, drug and alcohol services, bushfire recovery, child protection and community mental health.
Before becoming a therapist, I worked in education, community & international development, and welfare roles. Across all these experiences, one thing remained constant: my deep respect for people’s stories, strengths, and capacity for growth.
